FRENCH TOAST:

IMG_9033

An earthy brown shade, reminds me of fall. It has a creamy finish so it leaves sort of a sheen on the lips. To make it matte though you can just dab your lips with some tissue. It’s pretty comfortable to wear but since it’s a creamy finish, it has a weak lasting power and transfers easily.

BERRY SMOOTHIE:

IMG_9030

A medium pink shade with subtle mauve undertones. It’s a very pretty everyday shade. It also has a creamy finish and therefore staying power is weak. Pretty comfortable to wear.

UNDERGROUND:

IMG_9031

It’s a grey toned brown with a hint of lavender/pink. Grey lipsticks have been all the rave lately and in my opinion Underground is one of the more wearable ones. SInce it has lavender undertones, it does not look too bad on my tan skin. It has more of a satin finish and therefore doesn’t leave too much of a sheen. I will recommend getting rid of any pigmentation on your lips with foundation or concealer before applying this shade.

1995:

IMG_9032

It is a brown lipstick with mauve undertones inspired by the 90’s brown lip. This lipstick was made in collaboration with youtuber Jaclyn Hill (love her!) and I think is the perfect addition to the brown lip trend brought back by Kylie Jenner ofcourse! I love this lipstick, I wear it to death and it’s my favorite of all the ones I own from Gerard Cosmetics. It’s a matte so it can be a bit drying. Staying power is a bit better than the others but I still have to reapply throughout the day.

CHERRY CORDIAL

IMG_9029

It’s a dark berry shade. I was a bit disappointed with this in terms of pigmentation. You have to apply it or swatch it a few times to get an intense pay off and it can go on a bit patchy. It is a semi-matte/satin finish.

FRENCH TOAST VS 1995:

IMG_9034

I thought I should do a side by side of French Toast and 1995 since at first glance they look quite similar. From the pictures you can see that French Toast is a lot warmer and peachy toned whereas 1995 is darker and more mauve toned.

So this concludes my swatcharama of the Gerard Cosmetics lippies! They can seem a bit pricey at $19 but I always buy them at cheaper prices because they are always having amazing sales. Right now they are having a 4th of July sale where you can get 4 lippies for only $38 and free worldwide shipping! That’s less than $10 each! Coupon code: 4thpack

Swatcharama! LA Splash Lip Couture and Smitten LipTint Mousse

IMG_8518

Hey Bunnies!

So this morning just before I left for work, the mailman arrived and brought me these goodies. I bought two of the LA Splash Lip Coutures and two of the Smitten LipTints (13.98 USD). They are all sort of on the nude, brown, mauve family. Since the whole Kylie Jenner 90’s lip trend started, all I can think about are these shades! And there’s a grey one aswell!

Before I get on with the swatches, let me talk about the differences between the two. So obviously these are liquid lipsticks. Formula-wise, there is a very subtle difference. I felt the Liptint Mousse were a little bit thicker like a mousse (hence the name) and the Lip Coutures were a bit more liquidy. It’s very subtle, hardly noticeable. They are both very pigmented and dries matte. I did notice the Liptints were a bit harder to take off. They can be very drying on the lips so your lips have to be very well exfoliated and moisturised. They are very longlasting. I wore Lovegood today for about 6 hours and it didn’t feather much.

They do have a odd smell. Almost unbearable! Sort of like bug spray :/ I try to hold my breath while applying the product but once it’s on your lips the smell goes away.

The wands/applicators are different aswell. The Lip Coutures have a slimmer more elongated tip while the Liptint Mousse have a more traditional doe – foot applicator. Surprisingly I like the elongated one better. I find it’s easier to carve out my lips with the elongated shape.

~LIP COUTURE ~ LATTE CONFESSION – warm peachy toned coffee brown

~LIP COUTURE ~ OG GHOULISH – grey toned taupe

IMG_8511

If I had to choose my favorite shade I’ll say Latte Confession. I think it’s super wearable and I see myself wearing it a lot. I love both Lovegood and Nymph-adora aswell. My least favorite is OG Ghoulish. I initially wanted to buy the normal Ghoulish but they were out of stock. That one has a pinker more mauve tone to the taupe color whereas this one is a lot more grey.

Overall I really like them. The formula is a bit drying but they are very long lasting. Also if you can get past the smell, then they are a pretty good buy. The color range is amazing aswell. I can’t wait to get some more shades!!

~XOXO~

Favorite Fall Lips!

falllipscollage

Today’s post is dedicated to all the beauties living above the equator! Fall’s fast approaching the Northern Hemisphere. It’s time to change the color scheme of both your wardrobes and your faces! Since I’ve already experienced this beautiful season this year, I thought I should talk about the lipstick shades that I’ve personally enjoyed wearing. KEEP IN MIND that this is just a guide to what colors you can wear this fall, you don’t have to own the exact lipstick as shown in the photos. I have included some different options for each category; both high end and drugstore alternatives.

BERRIES AND PLUMS

Mac Heaux (LE) , Mac Rebel, Rimmel Kate Moss 107

Mac Heaux (LE) , Mac Rebel, Rimmel Kate Moss 107

Berry is the color of the season! When I think of fall/autumn I think of berry or plum lips! My favorite berry lipstick for fall was the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick by Kate Moss in 107 (third from left). In the photo its showing up more plummy but in real life its more of a deep maroon berry color. It’s semi matte and I love it. I’ve worn this the most this fall!

Another color that has been my all time favorite for fall is Mac Rebel (middle). It’s a very nice semi dark plummy purply color with a satin finish. It’s a very popular lipstick in the beauty community.

Lastly, I’ll be talking about a limited edition shade. It’s from the RiRi loves Mac collection and it’s called Heaux (first from left). The RiRi collection is still available in Australia (online) and maybe available in some other countries. This is considered to be a matte version of rebel or atleast pretty close to it. I find it to have a more pink tone whereas rebel leans more purple. Nevertheless I love this shade !!

Some other awesome berry/plum lippies:

YSL Rouge Volupte in Forbidden Burgundy 12

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Venom

Mac Diva and Media

Milani Color Statement in  Sangria and Black Cherry

Wet N Wild Cherry Bomb and Sugar Plum Fairy

REDS

Mac Ruby Woo, Mac RiRi Woo, and Nars Dragon Girl

Mac Ruby Woo, Mac RiRi Woo (LE), and Nars Dragon Girl

Red lippies are timeless! Red lips make any look glamorous in any time of the year. I personally tend to reach for my blue-toned reds during fall. This is completely a personal choice because many of you might like warmer toned reds reminiscent of fall leaves. I just love my blue tones in the colder weathers and blue tones makes you teeth look whiter!!

First I have the cult favorite: Mac Ruby Woo (first from left). This is the best red lipstick in my opinion! If you don’t have it, please go get it! It is a matte and quite drying that I must say. But the awesomeness of the color makes up for all that!

Then I have Mac RiRi Woo (middle). This is also limited edition but it’s still available in Australia and it will be repromoted with special packaging this October! It has a retro matte finish which is Mac’s new finish. Retro matte finish is actually drier and stiff. This shade is very very very similar to Ruby Woo, just a tad bit darker. I love it! And that’s no surprise since I love Ruby Woo so much!

Lastly I have Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl (third from the left). This is a more pinky toned red. It’s absolutely fabulous. It’s also easier to apply since it’s in a pencil form!

Other blue toned Reds:

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Exces de Rouge 523 (a favorite of Dita Von Teese)

Guerlain Rouge G in Garconne

Mac Russian Red

Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Red Label and Best Red

Wet N Wild Stoplight Red 911d

Nyx Round Lipstick in Chaos

PURPLES

Mac Heroine, TopShop Straight Ace, and Maybelline Hot Plum

Mac Heroine (LE), TopShop Straight Ace, and Maybelline Hot Plum

Purple lips have been all the trend recently. Even though it might be a bit unconventional, I think purple lips look fab in fall!

Firstly I have Mac Heroine (first from left) which is a limited edition color. This maybe available through Ebay or Amazon but I had to include it since it’s one of my very favorite lipsticks! It’s such a beautiful purple and quite hard to dupe. I love it!

Then I have TopShop Straight Ace (middle). This lipstick is a close dupe of Heroine so if you have TopShop near you, it might be worth checking out. It has a creamier, glossier finish thought and is a tad bit darker.

Lastly , I have Maybelline Vivids Hot Plum (third from left). It’s a beautiful fuschia purple and one of my recent buys! It’s cheap too!

Other Purples:

OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie

Lime Crime Airborne Unicorne

Mac Up the Amp

Nyx Round Lipstick Castle

NUDES

Revlon Balm Stain Honey, Mac Modesty, and Mac Brave

Revlon Balm Stain Honey, Mac Modesty, and Mac Brave

I usually love bright lipsticks and wear them all the time, but during fall and winter I do wear a lot of nudes aswell. These are the nudes that I’ve been loving this fall.

Revlon Balm Stain in Honey has been my go to everyday nude. It’s so easy to apply that I just wear it all the time when I’m running late for work. It’s moisturising and has pretty good color pay off !

Mac  Modesty is a nude that has a subtle brown tone. I think it’s great for people with tan to dark skintones. It’s a cremesheen finish.

Mac Brave is my all time favorite nude. I stole it from my mom hehe! It has a subtle pink tone to it and it’s a matte. I love it!

Other Notable Nudes:

YSL Rouge Volupte Nude Beige 01

Mac Velvet Teddy, Honey Love, Myth, Yash

Rimmel Nude Delight

Milani Color Statement in Teddy Bear

Nyx Black Label Lipstick in India

**Lastly I would like to add a few names of really dramatically dark lips! I personally don’t like the look of really dark lips on me but just wanted to throw out some options for you. Fall and winter is the perfect time to sport a dark vampy lip!

Mac Cyber

Wet n Wild Vamp it Up

Rimmel Kate Moss in 04 (black tube)

Hopefully this post was helpful to you guys! Enjoy the fall everyone in the north, as we’re moving into spring in the south! Don’t worry my lovelies here in the south, there will be lots of spring posts coming soon! XO !
