Gold and Greens Makeup

IMG_0862

HI My Bunnies!

I’ve been stuck at home with a sore ankle and what better time to do a post than now! This is an absolutely gorgeous gold and greens eye makeup with a bronzed face! I used three different shades of green for an ombre effect even though it’s not too visible in the photos but in real life it’s stunning! This will look beautiful on brown, hazel and of course green eyes!

EYES

~After priming I started off with MakeupGeek Creme Brule on the crease and outer crease(soft warm brown matte) with a fluffy brush

~Then I went with MakeupGeek Cocoa Bear (rich warm brown matte) on the crease with a tapered crease brush

~Then with a flat shader brush I patted on MAC Amberlights (bronzed gold shimmer) on the middle of the lid …I used Fix + to wet the brush for intense color payoff (you can do this whole step last really depends on preference)

~Then I added MakeupGeek ShimmerMint (light minty green shimmer) on both sides of Amberlights and just went back and forth with both the colors until the edges blended nicely

~Then I did the same thing with MAC Humid (rich forest green shimmer) on both sides of ShimmerMint and blended the edges

~Then on both the outer and inner edges I went with MakeupGeek Envy (deep metallic green) and I used a pencil brush

~Make sure to blend it with Humid and keep a little space in the innermost corner for the highlight

~I went with MakeupGeek Cocoa Bear again to blend everything in the crease

~Used Mac AmberLights as a inner corner highlight and Mac Ricepaper for the brow bone highlight

~On the bottom, I did the exact reverse of what I did on the top starting with Envy in the middle, then Humid, then ShimmerMint and lastly AmberLights – blended all of the with Cocoa Bear

~Line the waterline and tightline with a black eyeliner

~Line your top lash line and make a wing

~Put mascara on your lashes and add falsies!

Favorite Fall Lips!

falllipscollage

Today’s post is dedicated to all the beauties living above the equator! Fall’s fast approaching the Northern Hemisphere. It’s time to change the color scheme of both your wardrobes and your faces! Since I’ve already experienced this beautiful season this year, I thought I should talk about the lipstick shades that I’ve personally enjoyed wearing. KEEP IN MIND that this is just a guide to what colors you can wear this fall, you don’t have to own the exact lipstick as shown in the photos. I have included some different options for each category; both high end and drugstore alternatives.

BERRIES AND PLUMS

Mac Heaux (LE) , Mac Rebel, Rimmel Kate Moss 107

Mac Heaux (LE) , Mac Rebel, Rimmel Kate Moss 107

Berry is the color of the season! When I think of fall/autumn I think of berry or plum lips! My favorite berry lipstick for fall was the Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick by Kate Moss in 107 (third from left). In the photo its showing up more plummy but in real life its more of a deep maroon berry color. It’s semi matte and I love it. I’ve worn this the most this fall!

Another color that has been my all time favorite for fall is Mac Rebel (middle). It’s a very nice semi dark plummy purply color with a satin finish. It’s a very popular lipstick in the beauty community.

Lastly, I’ll be talking about a limited edition shade. It’s from the RiRi loves Mac collection and it’s called Heaux (first from left). The RiRi collection is still available in Australia (online) and maybe available in some other countries. This is considered to be a matte version of rebel or atleast pretty close to it. I find it to have a more pink tone whereas rebel leans more purple. Nevertheless I love this shade !!

Some other awesome berry/plum lippies:

YSL Rouge Volupte in Forbidden Burgundy 12

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Venom

Mac Diva and Media

Milani Color Statement in  Sangria and Black Cherry

Wet N Wild Cherry Bomb and Sugar Plum Fairy

REDS

Mac Ruby Woo, Mac RiRi Woo, and Nars Dragon Girl

Mac Ruby Woo, Mac RiRi Woo (LE), and Nars Dragon Girl

Red lippies are timeless! Red lips make any look glamorous in any time of the year. I personally tend to reach for my blue-toned reds during fall. This is completely a personal choice because many of you might like warmer toned reds reminiscent of fall leaves. I just love my blue tones in the colder weathers and blue tones makes you teeth look whiter!!

First I have the cult favorite: Mac Ruby Woo (first from left). This is the best red lipstick in my opinion! If you don’t have it, please go get it! It is a matte and quite drying that I must say. But the awesomeness of the color makes up for all that!

Then I have Mac RiRi Woo (middle). This is also limited edition but it’s still available in Australia and it will be repromoted with special packaging this October! It has a retro matte finish which is Mac’s new finish. Retro matte finish is actually drier and stiff. This shade is very very very similar to Ruby Woo, just a tad bit darker. I love it! And that’s no surprise since I love Ruby Woo so much!

Lastly I have Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl (third from the left). This is a more pinky toned red. It’s absolutely fabulous. It’s also easier to apply since it’s in a pencil form!

Other blue toned Reds:

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Exces de Rouge 523 (a favorite of Dita Von Teese)

Guerlain Rouge G in Garconne

Mac Russian Red

Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Red Label and Best Red

Wet N Wild Stoplight Red 911d

Nyx Round Lipstick in Chaos

PURPLES

Mac Heroine, TopShop Straight Ace, and Maybelline Hot Plum

Mac Heroine (LE), TopShop Straight Ace, and Maybelline Hot Plum

Purple lips have been all the trend recently. Even though it might be a bit unconventional, I think purple lips look fab in fall!

Firstly I have Mac Heroine (first from left) which is a limited edition color. This maybe available through Ebay or Amazon but I had to include it since it’s one of my very favorite lipsticks! It’s such a beautiful purple and quite hard to dupe. I love it!

Then I have TopShop Straight Ace (middle). This lipstick is a close dupe of Heroine so if you have TopShop near you, it might be worth checking out. It has a creamier, glossier finish thought and is a tad bit darker.

Lastly , I have Maybelline Vivids Hot Plum (third from left). It’s a beautiful fuschia purple and one of my recent buys! It’s cheap too!

Other Purples:

OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie

Lime Crime Airborne Unicorne

Mac Up the Amp

Nyx Round Lipstick Castle

NUDES

Revlon Balm Stain Honey, Mac Modesty, and Mac Brave

Revlon Balm Stain Honey, Mac Modesty, and Mac Brave

I usually love bright lipsticks and wear them all the time, but during fall and winter I do wear a lot of nudes aswell. These are the nudes that I’ve been loving this fall.

Revlon Balm Stain in Honey has been my go to everyday nude. It’s so easy to apply that I just wear it all the time when I’m running late for work. It’s moisturising and has pretty good color pay off !

Mac  Modesty is a nude that has a subtle brown tone. I think it’s great for people with tan to dark skintones. It’s a cremesheen finish.

Mac Brave is my all time favorite nude. I stole it from my mom hehe! It has a subtle pink tone to it and it’s a matte. I love it!

Other Notable Nudes:

YSL Rouge Volupte Nude Beige 01

Mac Velvet Teddy, Honey Love, Myth, Yash

Rimmel Nude Delight

Milani Color Statement in Teddy Bear

Nyx Black Label Lipstick in India

**Lastly I would like to add a few names of really dramatically dark lips! I personally don’t like the look of really dark lips on me but just wanted to throw out some options for you. Fall and winter is the perfect time to sport a dark vampy lip!

Mac Cyber

Wet n Wild Vamp it Up

Rimmel Kate Moss in 04 (black tube)

Hopefully this post was helpful to you guys! Enjoy the fall everyone in the north, as we’re moving into spring in the south! Don’t worry my lovelies here in the south, there will be lots of spring posts coming soon! XO !

FOTD/EOTD: Easy Neutral Eyes with a Bright Lip!

candyfotdcollage

I’ve been wearing this look almost everyday this first week of uni: very easy neutral eyes with a bright bold lip. The eyes only take a few minutes to do, so its perfect for those days when you’re running late for class! I’ve been switching up the lippies, but I must say, I’ve fallen in love with Mac’s Candy Yum Yum all over again!

Here’s a closer look at the eye makeup:

candyfotd10

Excuse my red eyes, you can tell uni has already started to dictate my sleeping patterns! The lighting’s a bit washed out in the photo. The lid color is a bit more bronzy in real life.

Here’s a Step By Step of what I used:

– Obviously I primed my eyelids first: Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base

– On the lid I used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

-Then on the crease I applied Mac Soft Brown with a Mac 217 brush

– On the browbone I used Mac Brule

– On the waterline I used Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Pencil in Nude

– Curled my lashes

– Applied one coat of Maybelline Falsies and one coat of Rimmel Lash Accelerator on both top and bottom lashes

AND ALL DONE!!!

Here’s a collage of all the products I used (except for brow):

Top Left: the products mentioned above used for the eye makeup

Bottom Left:

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: shade 8 and 6.5 (I mix them for my perfect color – one of the bottles is the new design but the product is the same)

Mac Pro Longwear concealer in nw25 and Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in Medium

Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 230 Natural Buff

Top Right:

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 03

TheBalm InStain blush in Argyle

Mac Soft and Gentle MSF

Bottom Right:

Mac Candy Yum Yum !!

Hope you liked this post guys! The eyes are so easy to do but still looks fab with a bright lip! If you like my posts, don’t forget to follow my blog! Till next time my lovelies! XO XO

Splurge: Guerlain Rouge Automatique in Shalimar!

shalimarpost

My love for lippies knows no bounds, so I decided to stray away from my regular Mac purchases and treat myself to something luxurious! As you all makeup junkies know, when we wonder off to luxuryland, Guerlain is the Queen B! I’m a sucker for packaging and if I’m paying big bucks, the packaging has to be unique! And that’s when I came across the Rouge Automatiques! The packaging is simple yet innovative and quirky! And it has a history….who doesn’t love a bit of a back story?!!

The packaging is reminiscent of the first Rouge Automatiques launched by Guerlain in 1936! This is the first ever lipstick without a cap, requiring only one hand to apply! I find it really handy to be honest! The packaging has a sliding button engraved with a G which you have to push down for the lipstick to come up….it’s just so clever and fun! And don’t worry about damaging the lipstick. The metal flap opens completely and is out of the way before the lipstick actually comes up. Also the button doesn’t slide down easily which is also a sign of a good quality packaging. The case itself is extremely sturdy but very lightweight unlike the YSL rouge volupte lipsticks. Some of you might be disappointed with that since you are paying a hefty price. I personally really like that its light and love the gold!

Speaking of the price, these retail for $55 AUD at David Jones, Australia as opposed to $35 USD in the US. That’s not a huge difference if we compare with the the inflated prices of brands like Bobbi Brown and Mac here in Australia.

Shalimar 166

Shalimar 166

So after all that rave about the packaging, let’s come to the shade I purchased. When I was looking through the colors, my love for fuschia took over and I had to pick up Shalimar (166). It is a cool- toned, blue based fuschia with subtle gold shimmers. It’s not like any fuschia lipsticks I have. When we usually think of fuschia, we think of something bright, shocking, or in your face. This on the other hand is a very subdued fuschia, which makes it really hard to dupe. The blue base is also quite muted and according to Temptalia, the color showed up warm on her. It shows up more blue on my lips than the swatch on my hand, so it really depends on your skintone, undertone, and pigmentation of your lips. The shimmers are almost undetectable on my lips. I don’t really care for shimmers anyway. The formula is semi opaque, glides on effortlessly, and it’s very shiny and glossy. You can wear it sheerly like a gloss or build up the opacity. It gives my lips a plumped up and glossy look! Love it! Longevity is quite good considering the finish. It wore on me about 4 -5 hours.

Guerlain Shalimar, Revlon Sweetheart and Smitten balm stains

The finish had a bit of a balmy texture. Reminded me of the Revlon Balm Stains but much more buildable in opacity and softer on the lips.

Swatched on my lips!

Swatched on my lips! Looks a lot more blue based than the swatch!

As you can see, the lipstick shows up more cool-toned and blue on my lips than on the swatch.

I love this lipstick, both the color and the formula. If you love juicy, glossy lips, you should definitely look into these lipsticks! I do think $55 AUD is a bit too much for it though. I have my eyes on a couple other colors: Nehema and Liu. I might just give in and buy those !
