Hi Dolls,

Before we get on to the swatches, can we just talk about that packaging! These gold tubes are just beautiful and so classy! Brownie points to Gerard Cosmetics for coming up with such rad packaging! FRENCH TOAST:

IMG_9033

An earthy brown shade, reminds me of fall. It has a creamy finish so it leaves sort of a sheen on the lips. To make it matte though you can just dab your lips with some tissue. It’s pretty comfortable to wear but since it’s a creamy finish, it has a weak lasting power and transfers easily.

BERRY SMOOTHIE:

IMG_9030

A medium pink shade with subtle mauve undertones. It’s a very pretty everyday shade. It also has a creamy finish and therefore staying power is weak. Pretty comfortable to wear.

UNDERGROUND:

IMG_9031

It’s a grey toned brown with a hint of lavender/pink. Grey lipsticks have been all the rave lately and in my opinion Underground is one of the more wearable ones. SInce it has lavender undertones, it does not look too bad on my tan skin. It has more of a satin finish and therefore doesn’t leave too much of a sheen. I will recommend getting rid of any pigmentation on your lips with foundation or concealer before applying this shade.

1995:

IMG_9032

It is a brown lipstick with mauve undertones inspired by the 90’s brown lip. This lipstick was made in collaboration with youtuber Jaclyn Hill (love her!) and I think is the perfect addition to the brown lip trend brought back by Kylie Jenner ofcourse! I love this lipstick, I wear it to death and it’s my favorite of all the ones I own from Gerard Cosmetics. It’s a matte so it can be a bit drying. Staying power is a bit better than the others but I still have to reapply throughout the day.

CHERRY CORDIAL

IMG_9029

It’s a dark berry shade. I was a bit disappointed with this in terms of pigmentation. You have to apply it or swatch it a few times to get an intense pay off and it can go on a bit patchy. It is a semi-matte/satin finish.

FRENCH TOAST VS 1995:

IMG_9034

I thought I should do a side by side of French Toast and 1995 since at first glance they look quite similar. From the pictures you can see that French Toast is a lot warmer and peachy toned whereas 1995 is darker and more mauve toned.

So this concludes my swatcharama of the Gerard Cosmetics lippies! They can seem a bit pricey at $19 but I always buy them at cheaper prices because they are always having amazing sales. Right now they are having a 4th of July sale where you can get 4 lippies for only $38 and free worldwide shipping! That’s less than $10 each! Coupon code: 4thpack

Swatcharama! LA Splash Lip Couture and Smitten LipTint Mousse

IMG_8518

Hey Bunnies!

So this morning just before I left for work, the mailman arrived and brought me these goodies. I bought two of the LA Splash Lip Coutures and two of the Smitten LipTints (13.98 USD). They are all sort of on the nude, brown, mauve family. Since the whole Kylie Jenner 90’s lip trend started, all I can think about are these shades! And there’s a grey one aswell!

Before I get on with the swatches, let me talk about the differences between the two. So obviously these are liquid lipsticks. Formula-wise, there is a very subtle difference. I felt the Liptint Mousse were a little bit thicker like a mousse (hence the name) and the Lip Coutures were a bit more liquidy. It’s very subtle, hardly noticeable. They are both very pigmented and dries matte. I did notice the Liptints were a bit harder to take off. They can be very drying on the lips so your lips have to be very well exfoliated and moisturised. They are very longlasting. I wore Lovegood today for about 6 hours and it didn’t feather much.

They do have a odd smell. Almost unbearable! Sort of like bug spray :/ I try to hold my breath while applying the product but once it’s on your lips the smell goes away.

The wands/applicators are different aswell. The Lip Coutures have a slimmer more elongated tip while the Liptint Mousse have a more traditional doe – foot applicator. Surprisingly I like the elongated one better. I find it’s easier to carve out my lips with the elongated shape.

~LIP COUTURE ~ OG GHOULISH – grey toned taupe

IMG_8511

If I had to choose my favorite shade I’ll say Latte Confession. I think it’s super wearable and I see myself wearing it a lot. I love both Lovegood and Nymph-adora aswell. My least favorite is OG Ghoulish. I initially wanted to buy the normal Ghoulish but they were out of stock. That one has a pinker more mauve tone to the taupe color whereas this one is a lot more grey.

Overall I really like them. The formula is a bit drying but they are very long lasting. Also if you can get past the smell, then they are a pretty good buy. The color range is amazing aswell. I can’t wait to get some more shades!!

Warm Orange and Copper Toned Eyes with Contrasting Fuchsia-Magenta Lips

IMG_8146

Hello Hello!

So as you can see today’s look is perfect for your weekly grocery run and everyday chores – so natural and simple NOT! Haha didn’t mean to shock you guys there but just checkin to see if ya’ll are paying attention! So actually as you can tell from the photo and the title of this post that this look is a bit unconventional using contrasting tones on the eyes and the lip. I love the look of clashing colors especially the contrast between warm orangey tones versus really cool toned pinks. I’m quite pleased with how this came out and ofcourse it’s not everyone’s cuppa tea and that’s completely okay – makeup is art and all about experimenting and that’s what I love about it!

IMG_8188So let’s get on with the pictorial!!

The eyeshadow I used for your reference:

Pictorial:

1. After priming my lid, I mixed a matte lighter yellowish orange shade and a deeper more true orange shade (Makeup Geek Chickadee and Inglot 383) and applied it all over the upper crease in a windshield wiper motion with fluffy crease brush. You have to make it as blown out as possible.

2.  I decided to apply a little bit of a matte yellow shade (Inglot 323) just on top of where I applied the orange colors and blend it out. Then I applied Anastasia Beverly Hills Morocco, which is a warm terracotta brown, on my crease with a denser crease brush. I swiped it from the outer to inner corner of the crease.

3. Once everything is nicely blended out, I applied Makeup Geek Foiled eyeshadow in FlameThrower, which is a super shimmery copper with a foiled finish, on my lid. I dampened my brush for it to get maximum intensity. Then I blended out the edges for a seamless transition with the crease colors.

4. Then I applied Anastasia Deep Plum on both my outer and inner corner to darken these areas and blended upwards towards the crease. Blend Blend Blend – go ahead and apply a little bit more if you have to at this point.

5. For more dimension, I applied a pop of shimmery orangey gold (MAC Melon pigment) on the centre of my lid.

6. I highlighted my brow bone and inner corner with a pale shimmery gold shade (Anastasia Legend). I lined my waterline with a gold eye pencil. On the bottom lashline, I darkened the outer corner with some Deep Plum and then placed Melon pigment in the middle and Legend on the inner corner. Blended it all out with Chickadee and Inglot 383. I curled my lashes, applied mascara to top and bottom lashes and then applied falsies : Koko lashes in Risque.

High End Holy Grail Happenings!

If you are a makeup junkie like me, you probably can relate to¬†my¬†constant hunger to¬†look at, touch, try out, and BUY new makeup ^_^ ; but no matter how many new products come to the market, there will always be a few that hold a special spot in your life and you have to buy them over and over again. And when that product falls in the¬†‘high end’ category, it validates that ‘ride or die’ status even more! I’ve come up with 6 high end holy grail products that I’ve either repurchased or will definitely buy again when I run out. (I did not include any foundations though because that deserves a post of its own!)

image1 (6)

#1 MAC Pro Longwear Concealer {20 USD/32 AUD}

I don’t even know how many bottles I’ve repurchased of this, I love it sooo much! Which reminds me I’m almost about to run out of my current bottle. This concealer has been part of pretty much¬†all my makeup looks since like forever. I use the shade NW25 for my under eyes to correct and cover my dark circles (and trust me they are bad!). It does such a fab job! I do have a couple of other shades as well that I keep in handy. Three things that I love: 1) High Coverage – you only need a small amount 2) Shade range: something true for most MAC products! 3) Longevity – it’s called ‘Pro Longwear for a reason and you can also use it as an eyeshadow base because its so long wearing! The only con is that the pump squirts out too much product but I can live with that!

#2 Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light {45 USD/59 AUD}

When these powders came out, there was a huge hype in the beauty community, and let me tell ya, there was a legit reason behind it. These¬†powders create that extra oomph you need when all your makeup is done. They literally tie everything together. My holy grail¬†is the Dim Light. It’s a finishing powder so you are meant to apply it all over your face after you have done your makeup. It gives this blurred illusion to your face and and subtle¬†angelic luminosity, like you’re lit from within. I’ve got so many of my friends hooked on this powder and I always get compliments on how glowy my skin looks every time I wear this. It’s pretty pricey but I’ve already hit pan on my first one and I purchased a new one!

#3 MAC Fix + {22 USD/27 AUD}

Well I think everyone and their mothers should have this or already have this product sitting on their vanity! This is such a versatile product. It can be used just before putting any makeup on to prep the face, it can be used after your makeup application to stop your makeup from looking cakey, it can be used to wet your brush to get more color payoff from an eyeshadow and 10,000 other things! The traditional Fix Plus has now become a part of the prep and prime series but it’s still the same thing!

#4 Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler {20 USD/29 AUD}

I’ll just put it out there – my natural eyelashes suck! They are wimpy and straight and not all curlers can handle that! On top of that, I have a tendency to pinch my eyelids with eyelash curlers and oh boy that hurts! The Shu Uemura curler is epic! It lives up to its popularity in the beauty community and does a really good job at tackling my stubborn straight eyelashes without me hurting¬†myself. I’ve repurchased this product couple of times already and when you buy it, it comes with 1 extra band. One con is that you can’t buy the refills of the bands, so when you’ve used up both, you have to buy a whole new eyelash curler!

#5 Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz {21 USD/34 AUD}

If I had to choose one product among all the products I’m mentioning today, it will probably be this one! A lot of you might agree that brows take a lot longer than some of the other areas of the face; but you don’t always have the time to do an elaborate brow especially when you’re going to work or school and you’re running late (story of my life!). Enter Anastasia Brow Wiz to make your brow struggles so much easier! I love how small and thin the tip is so you can precisely carve out a shape. You can draw small ‘faux’ hairs with it. The formula is really nice and not super harsh, super dry, or super soft. It comes with a really nice spoolie¬†on the other end which makes it even more travel friendly. The only thing is, it doesn’t have a lot of product so I run out of it all the time!

#6 Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed in Opal {38USD/46-60 AUD}

Some of you might think ‘How the hell can a highlighter be a Holy Grail!’ especially for someone who loves to glow and collects so much makeup. Well in my opinion something can be officially called ‘Holy Grail’ when you tend to reach for it the most among all your highlighters. I think 8 out of 10 times I go for Becca Opal. The formula is sooo buttery and smooth, I can’t even! I think the shade Opal is very versatile – girls who are light medium to medium dark can use it. But those of you who are either¬†fairer or darker, fret not, Becca has you covered! They’ve got few other beautiful shades like Moonstone, Topaz, and Rose Gold that caters for other skin tones!

And that concludes my High End Holy Grail Happenings! What are some of your favorite high end makeup?

XOXO

Fragrance Favorites: Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Eau De Parfum

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy

Hi Sugar Plums!

I know I’ve been MIA for the last few days and I apologize for that. I’ve been so so busy with uni, assignments, work, trying to stay fit and trying fitting in all my other daily chores in my schedule! To make up for my absence I’ll hopefully have a couple more posts up by tonight!

Since I own a lot of perfumes and I’m always buying more, I figured I will start a series called Fragrance Favorites ¬†and review perfumes that I love and recommend!¬†Anyway, without further ado let’s get going with the highlight of this post, which is one of my favorite perfumes of the moment: Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy!¬†

I’ve seen this perfume around but I never really wanted to purchase it until I heard mouldyfruit¬†talk about it in one of her favorites videos. I loved the packaging and she mentioned it was a ‘sweet’ smell. I’m a sucker for anything sweet! The only problem was the pricetag! It costs $145 (AUD) for the 100ml bottle !!! I’m a poor uni student on a budget and since my love for makeup and perfumes knows no bounds, I always have to keep myself in check and look for specials sales and deals. So I opted for a 30 ml bottle at first. As I started wearing this perfume, I got so many compliments from complete strangers. People were asking me what perfume I was wearing. I didn’t realize this perfume would have such an impact, so when I saw that the 100ml bottle was reduced to $69 in Priceline, I was ecstatic!!! The sale should still be on till the 11th of September so if you’re in Australia, you can still get this perfume for a steal!

Packaging:

I really like the packaging. Its quite heavy and feels expensive. I love the fuchsia colored ribbon and just love all the gold bling!!! (You  can see some close up shots in the collage above.)

Notes:

This perfume is often characterized as a floral fragrance but when you break down the notes, you will see that there is a blend of various different elements.

According to fragantica.com , the notes are as follows:

Top Notes: wild berries and mandarin

Middle Notes: honeysuckle, gardenia, and jasmine

Base Notes: amber, caramel, vanila, sandalwood, and pralines

* (top notes comes first, then middle notes, and finally settles into base notes)

Personally, when I first spray this perfume, I right away pick up a citrus scent which I’m assuming comes from the mandarin.

It quickly moves onto the floral scent and I could primarily smell the jasmine.

Finally it settle downs to predominantly the caramel scent.

I can’t stress how beautiful this perfume smells. I will say it’s more of a daytime perfume. It’s youthful and very chic. Not overly girly though, yet still feminine. I just completely love it!

Longevity:

My only complain is the longevity of the perfume. For the price, you would expect it to stay on longer especially since its an eau de parfum. It’s however has a medium longevity. It doesn’t go away instantly but it’s not long lasting either. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to test the sillage (scented trailed left behind) of the perfume, but according to other users, it’s also moderate.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and are convinced enough to try this perfume! Till then XO!

FOTD/EOTD: Easy Neutral Eyes with a Bright Lip!

candyfotdcollage

I’ve been wearing this look almost everyday this first week of uni: very easy neutral eyes with a bright bold lip. The eyes only take a few minutes to do, so its perfect for those days when you’re running late for class! I’ve been switching up the lippies, but I must say, I’ve fallen in love with Mac’s Candy Yum Yum all over again!

Here’s a closer look at the eye makeup:

candyfotd10

Excuse my red eyes, you can tell uni has already started to dictate my sleeping patterns! The lighting’s a bit washed out in the photo. The lid color is a bit more bronzy in real life.

Here’s a Step By Step of what I used:

– Obviously I primed my eyelids first: Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base

– On the lid I used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

-Then on the crease I applied Mac Soft Brown with a Mac 217 brush

– On the browbone I used Mac Brule

– On the waterline I used Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Pencil in Nude

– Curled my lashes

– Applied one coat of Maybelline Falsies and one coat of Rimmel Lash Accelerator on both top and bottom lashes

AND ALL DONE!!!

Here’s a collage of all the products I used (except for brow):

candyfotdcollage2

Top Left: the products mentioned above used for the eye makeup

Bottom Left:

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: shade 8 and 6.5 (I mix them for my perfect color – one of the bottles is the new design but the product is the same)

Mac Pro Longwear concealer in nw25 and Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in Medium

Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 230 Natural Buff

Top Right:

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in 03

TheBalm InStain blush in Argyle

Mac Soft and Gentle MSF

Bottom Right:

Hope you liked this post guys! The eyes are so easy to do but still looks fab with a bright lip! If you like my posts, don’t forget to follow my blog! Till next time my lovelies! XO XO

Priceline Haul and Drugstore FOTD

pricelinehaul1

So if you’re living in Australia, you would know that Priceline is one our more well-known drugstores. They are always having awesome weekly/monthly sales. I’m a huge fan of the place, and if you sign up to their sister program, you gain points which you can eventually redeem. So that’s a bonus! Over the weekend, they had an amazing sale on some of the brands they carry and I just couldn’t help myself, ofcourse! They had half price on all maybelline products! Maybelline being one of my favorite drugstore brands, except for one, all of the things I got are from Maybelline!

So let’s start of with the non-Maybelline product. I purchased the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this mascara. I liked their lash blast and lash blast fusion mascaras aswell, so I thought I should give it a try. Right now it’s just chilling with my stash of backup mascaras but I think I’ll try this one next.

So now on with the Maybelline stuff:

I just got a back up of my trusty ol’ eye studio gel liner. Makeup in general is so expensive in Australia. Some of the drugstore products are very similar to high end prices in the US so I never pass a chance to stock up when there’s a sale on.

I got the hyper glossy liquid liner. It was on sale for around 6 bucks so just wanted to try out. I’m on the fence about this product. I like the color payoff, I don’t mind the glossiness, I like the tip of the applicator (shown below), BUT its not smudge-proof or water-proof. It’s winter out here so its still okay or if you’re gonna be indoors most of the time. During hot weather it will just be disaster. It comes off so easily with any contact with liquid. Also I’ve noticed the way it dries, it has a tendency to peel off so you gotta be careful with that aswell.

hyperglossytip

Next up is the Dream Pure BB cream for oily skin. This is the newer one. The other one is for all skin types. I do not have oily skin. I’m a normal to dry skin girl. I was debating between the two but I finally decided to get this one become of one thing: the 2 percent salicylic acid it contains. That’s a rare occurrence for a foundation/bb cream type product, let alone a drugstore one. I’m a mere mortal so I’m not immune to breakouts so I think its perfect for those days when my skin isn’t performing so well.

I also got the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch highlighting concealer. Take note of the fact that it says highlighting concealer. This does not have great coverage, but it’s meant to brighten up your under eyes, the bridge of your nose etc. I got the color in 03 sand, but I do wish I got a lighter color just because I like dramatically bright underyes.

Next I got the Super Stay 24 Hour Waterproof Powder. I got the shade 021 Nude, which was a mistake because it’s a bit too pink for me. I’m still trying to make this work. I really like the texture and coverage though.

Lastly I got the Color Whisper lipsticks. I got two shades: Pink Possibilities and Lust for Blush (shown below). The swatches aren’t coming completely accurate. I love Pink Possibilities since its like this neon coral pink. The photos aren’t doing any justice to the color. Lust for Blush is a nice pinky brown nude. A nice nude for my skin tone. They are more like a balmy texture. Kind of like the Revlon Lip Butters. They have a sheer coverage, but can be built up. They are very moisturising on the lips.

colorwhispersswatch

I’ve used some of these products on my face today. Everything else on this face of the day is also from the drugstore:

I can hardly keep my face straight lol

I can hardly keep my face straight lol

Here’s a rundown of the products I used:

Face: Loreal Base Magique Primer, Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream in Medium, Dream Lumi Touch highlighting concealer in 003 Sand, Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Powder in 021 Nude, Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder in Transluscent (under eye)

EyeBrows: Elf EyeBrow Kit in Dark and Nyx Above Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in Beige

Eyes: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded on the lid,
Maybelline Eye Studio quad in Copper Chic – Shimmery Nude on the lid and Copper shade the lower lash line,
BH Cosmetics 26 Eyeshadow and Cheek Palette (Soft Brown) on the crease,
Maybelline Hyper Glossy liquid liner, Maybelline Falsies Mascara, Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof liner in Nude

Cheeks: Rimmel London Blush in Spring Flower, Rimmel London Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze, Shimmery beinge shade from the Maybelline quad to highlight

Lips: Essence lipliner in cute pink, Maybelline Color Whisper in Pink Possibilities
