Of Forests and Flowers: A Romantic Daytime Look

IMG_4090

I can a be a dreamer, a hopeless romantic at times and this may sound a bit too enthusiastic but I’m already thinking about Valentine’s Day. Getting into the season of romance, I wanted to create a delicate daytime look using soft corals and pinks. The completed look reminds me of forest fairies in spring and this will surely take that special someone’s breath away!

This look was a product of a brainstorming session with my beloved bestie Adiba! I was feeling super uninspired lately and she hooked me up with some cool ideas! If you’re reading this: thanks bubs! Love you tons!

Without further ado, let’s jump right into the details!

EYES

IMG_4235

The eyes are super simple to do! I used the LimeCrime Venus palette for the whole look. I previously did a dark grungy look with the same palette here . Goes to show how versatile this palette is even with only 8 eyeshadows.

~After priming my lid, I started off with Rebirth on a fluffy brush and swept it all over my upper crease and crease, concentrating most of the product on the outer end.

~Then I packed Shell on the lid with a wet flat lid brush

~Then with the same fluffy brush I blended out any edges

~Then with a dense crease brush (MAC 217), I blended in Venus with a circular motion on both the outer and inner corner

~Make sure it is blended really well with the other shades

~You can go back and add more of the lid color or the upper crease color if you like

~After everything’s blended out nicely and you are happy with what you have, add Aura to the browbone and inner tear duct

~On the bottom lashline, drag Aura on the inner third from the tear duct

~Add Shell on the outer 2/3 of the lash line and then take Venus with a more precise brush and smudge it really close to the lashline (outer 2/3 aswell)

~Curl your lashes, apply mascara to top and bottom lashes, and pop on some multilayered wispy eyelashes. I chose House of Lashes Pixie Luxe, I think these lashes are perfect for this look and really makes this look!

~Lastly make a very thin line with a gel or liquid liner on the top lash line to conceal the lash band

Voila! The eyes done! Super simple but extremely pretty 🙂

Shimmery Taupe Smokey Eye with a pop of Beautiful Iris!

beautifuliris

beautifuliris1

This makeup look is inspired by two makeup gurus…Julie San Augustin aka Pala_Foxxia from Instagram who is one of my favorite makeup artists of all time and Still Glamorous from Youtube who is just sooo flawlessly beautiful ! I really like this combination of silvery taupe and this amazing bright lavender color. The lavender really brings out the green in my eyes (even though they are hazel :P) but I think this color would look gorgeous in any eye color. Sooo let’s see how I achieved this look!

Beautifulirisdiagram

~I primed my lid with Nars smudgeproof eyeshadow base and then applied Maybelline color tattoo in Tough as Taupe on my lid

~I then applied  MakeupGeek Moondust sprayed with Fix+ on my lid keeping a gap in the inner corner

~I blended any harsh lines with MakeupGeek Creme Brule

~Then I applied MakeupGeek Cocoa Bear on my crease blending out inwards and up

*As you can tell I can’t live without my MakeupGeek Creme Brule and Cocoa Bear!  Use them on almost all my looks!

~Then I applied LORAC Deep Purple which is a shimmery dark purple on the outer corner (you can totally use a black or dark brown)

~Don’t forget to blend!!

~Then I applied the color of the day- MAC Beautiful Iris on the inner corner taking it down to the inner part of the lower lash line

~On the lower lashline I then mimicked what I did on the lid- applied Moondust in the middle and Deep Purple in the outer corner

~Applied Mac Brule on the browbone

~Lined my upper lash line with a liquid liner ( I think this one was a Elf one) and made a semi thick line and a wing

~Lined my waterline with a black pencil

~Applied mascara (Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express) and applied falsies (Miss Adoro Demi Wispies)

*I have two lip options for this look ! Check it out below:

MAC Brave (left) and MAC Diva (right)

MAC Brave (left) and MAC Diva (right)

You can wear this look with a pinky nude lipstick for the daytime and it’s very appropriate for Spring. I’m wearing MAC Brave, one of my favorite nudes!

You can also pair this look with a dark lip and vamp it up for the night…a great look for the Fall here in Australia. Here I’m wearing MAC Diva but you can go even darker maybe do a ombre lip with a dark lip liner!

I just love the versatility of this look and how it can be both a Spring and Fall look (the current seasons in the two hemisphere)!

Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid Makeup

radiantorchid

radiantorchid1

Pantone is the worldwide authority of color and color systems and every year they nominate a particular color for that year. The color for 2014 is RADIANT ORCHID…it’s a beautiful purple which is actually the color of the typical orchid flower…As orchids are one of my favorite flowers I really wanted to do a look based on this color.

radiantorchiddiagram

I wanted to keep it colorful for spring but still wearable…here’s how I got the look:

~After priming lid with MAC paint pot in Painterly, I applied MAC Sushi Flower on my upper crease with a fluffy brush

~I deepened the crease slightly by taking MAC Hepcat on a denser blending brush and blending it into the crease and upper crease without completely covering Sushi Flower

~Then with a even denser domed brush, I applied MAC Fig 1 to the outer corner of my lid slightly taking it upward to the crease and blending with Hepcat

~I applied MakeUp Geek (MUG) Peach Smoothie on the inner third of my lid and on top of that I applied LORAC IT Bronze which is more of a light shimmery gold color

~On the middle portion of the lid I applied MAC Stars N Rockets blending it with the colors on both sides

~I lined my upper lash line with a liquid liner and created a thick line and a wing

~I applied Australis 10 hour wear eye pencil in Grape Cake on my waterline

~Then I mimicked my lid colors on my lower lash line accordingly.

~I applied MAC Ricepaper on my brow bone and also on my inner corner as a highlight

~Applied mascara and falsies and VOILA!

Spring/Summer Pastel Eyes

pasteleyes

Hey Hey My Bunnies!

So today’s post is all about fun pastel shades for the spring/summer season in Aussieland!  Wearing pastel shades on your eyes may seem quite absurd or scary to some of you but trust me you can do beautiful looks with these colors! In this look, I chose to use a pretty minty green, a pastel baby pink and a bright purple!

pasteleyesdiagrampasteleyesdiagram1

~ I prepped my eyes with MAC Painterly paint pot

~ I applied Maybelline color tattoos in edgy emerald on the centre lid, inked in pink on the inner corner and painted purple on the bottom lashline. They will work as bases to brighten up the eyeshadows.

~ Then I applied MAC Steamy eyeshadow on the centre lid and Urban Decay (UD) Coax and X-Rated from the VICE 2 palette on the inner corner taking it downwards to the lower lashline

~ I blended the edges with a clean brush and then added Makeup Geek (MUG) Creme Brulee on the crease

~I applied Lorac Sable on the outer corner and upwards to the crease

~I darkened the outer corner with Lorac Espresso eyeshadow

~On the bottom lashline, I applied UD Betrayal from the VICE 2 palette

~ With a liquid liner, I lined the lashline and created a wing making sure the line isn’t too thick

~I lined the waterline with a black eye pencil

~Applied mascara on top and bottom lashes and applied falsies (Ardell 102 demi)

And VOILA! You’ve got a fun, flirty, colorful pastel eyelook for spring/summer!

pasteleyescollage

Since it’s a fun summer look, make sure you keep the skin dewy and glowing! I did not use a dewy foundation because I wasn’t sure what look I was planning to do so I added a liquid luminizer and topped it off with a powder highlighter! Ways to achieve a dewy look is to either use a dewy foundation (something’s that’s not matte), add a liquid luminizer with your foundation, or highlight your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, and/or chin, and centre of forehead with liquid/powder highlighter or both! You can always use a shimmery champagne/light gold eyeshadow if you don’t own a highlighter!

– apply a shimmery turquoise color on your lid and blend with the crease color: BH Malibu palette

– apply a dark chocolate brown on the outer corner taking it to your crease and blend: BH Malibu palette

– to make the crease slightly darker, trace a black color with a pencil brush on your crease and blend: Sleek Storm palette

– apply the coral on the lower lash line and then apply the dark brown closer to the lash line

Review: TheBalm Instain Blush in Argyle and Toile

instainblush

Hi my lovelies!

I’ve been meaning to do this post for awhile now! TheBalm InStain blushes have stained my heart and my cheeks…in a good way ofcourse! They are $26.95 at David Jones (Australia). You can also buy them from here. These range of blushes are described as long wearing, staining powder blush. I own two of the six shades but I intend to buy more! The shades are:

Argyle (petal pink)

Toile (strawberry)

Swiss Dot (peach)

Lace (bright pink)

Houndstooth (mauve)

Pinstripe (plum)

I own Argyle and Toile. They are both extremely beautiful colors. TheBalm have divided them into two categories: spring or fall. Argyle is a spring blush and Toile is a fall blush! How fitting with Spring approaching the Southern Hemisphere and fall approaching the North! But I feel these two in particular can be worn in any season! They are both extremely pigmented! And boy they weren’t kidding with the ‘long wearing’ part! I wore these blushes for about 8 hours and they were going strong for all 8!

Argyle (left) and Toile (right)

Argyle (left) and Toile (right)

They come in a very nice compact cardboard packaging (classic theBalm) and also has a nice mirror. I love love love the packaging! Can’t stress enough how cute the packaging is!! And obviously the names are reminiscent of different patterns and the patterns are also shown in the packaging!

On to the swatches!

Argyle is a blue toned pale pink with a matte finish. It kicks up some powder when swatched so a word of caution there.

Toile is a coral with a bit of orange and pink. It’s a more of a satin finish and very buttery.

This is me wearing the blushes….lighting sucks in my room sorry if they aren’t two visible 😦

I can’t wait to try more of these blushes! I still can’t decide which one to get next. Can’t buy all of them together…I’m a broke student 😦 I’m debating between Houndstooth and Lace.

I highly recommend these blushes guys! And they are pretty reasonably priced! XO
