Taupe and Gold Halo Smokey Eye feat. Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette

IMG_9276

A lot of you may have heard of the German brand, Zoeva, which is known for its phenomenal makeup brushes. Well, they do amazing eyeshadows aswell!! Recently, I got my hands on their newest palette – the Cocoa Blend Palette which is inspired by chocolates ofcourse. It looked too divine for me to pass! It’s a versatile palette and you can do a number of different looks with it. I went for a taupe and gold smokey eye today perfect for a party or night. I’m pretty sure you will be seeing me use this palette a lot more in the future.

1. Firstly with a fluffy crease brush, I applied Substitute of Love (see pic above for reference) in a windshield wiper motion back and forth as a transition shade on my crease and upper crease.

2. Then with a denser crease brush, I applied Freshly Toasted on my socket area (crease) and went back and forth from the outer crease to the inner crease.

3. Then I took Delicate Acidity on a flat shader brush and sprayed Fix + (water or any face mist) to dampen the brush for a more intense pay off from the eyeshadow. I applied that shade all over my lid stopping right where the crease starts.

4. Then with a dense crease brush, I took Beans Are White and started darkening the crease especially concentrating on the outer corner. Then I took it all the way towards the inner crease and inner corner and slightly darkened that area aswell. Don’t forget to blend and take a little at a time. With dark eyeshadows it’s important to keep on adding color as you go rather than packing a whole lot of color in one go. Remember: you can add but it’s hard to take away!

5. After everything is blended out, I added Pure Ganache on a damp brush for intense payoff and dabbed it on the middle of the lid. Afterwards if you think the gold has taken away too much of the taupe you can go ahead and add more of the taupe. For more intensity on the middle, I added Australis Metallix cream shadow in Gold Gaga to achieve that slightly metallic finish.

6. I added Sweeter End on the browbone and as a inner corner highlight. I lined my lashes and made a wing. Applied mascara and falsies : House of Lashes Iconic. On the lower lash line, I applied Beans Are White on the outer and inner corner with a pencil brush smudging it close to the lash line. Then on the middle I applied Delicate Acidity. I blended it out with a little bit of Freshly Toasted. I applied a nude eyeliner on the waterline and mascara on the bottom lashesh.

Warm Orange and Copper Toned Eyes with Contrasting Fuchsia-Magenta Lips

IMG_8146

Hello Hello!

So as you can see today’s look is perfect for your weekly grocery run and everyday chores – so natural and simple NOT! Haha didn’t mean to shock you guys there but just checkin to see if ya’ll are paying attention! So actually as you can tell from the photo and the title of this post that this look is a bit unconventional using contrasting tones on the eyes and the lip. I love the look of clashing colors especially the contrast between warm orangey tones versus really cool toned pinks. I’m quite pleased with how this came out and ofcourse it’s not everyone’s cuppa tea and that’s completely okay – makeup is art and all about experimenting and that’s what I love about it!

IMG_8188So let’s get on with the pictorial!!

1. After priming my lid, I mixed a matte lighter yellowish orange shade and a deeper more true orange shade (Makeup Geek Chickadee and Inglot 383) and applied it all over the upper crease in a windshield wiper motion with fluffy crease brush. You have to make it as blown out as possible.

2.  I decided to apply a little bit of a matte yellow shade (Inglot 323) just on top of where I applied the orange colors and blend it out. Then I applied Anastasia Beverly Hills Morocco, which is a warm terracotta brown, on my crease with a denser crease brush. I swiped it from the outer to inner corner of the crease.

3. Once everything is nicely blended out, I applied Makeup Geek Foiled eyeshadow in FlameThrower, which is a super shimmery copper with a foiled finish, on my lid. I dampened my brush for it to get maximum intensity. Then I blended out the edges for a seamless transition with the crease colors.

4. Then I applied Anastasia Deep Plum on both my outer and inner corner to darken these areas and blended upwards towards the crease. Blend Blend Blend – go ahead and apply a little bit more if you have to at this point.

5. For more dimension, I applied a pop of shimmery orangey gold (MAC Melon pigment) on the centre of my lid.

6. I highlighted my brow bone and inner corner with a pale shimmery gold shade (Anastasia Legend). I lined my waterline with a gold eye pencil. On the bottom lashline, I darkened the outer corner with some Deep Plum and then placed Melon pigment in the middle and Legend on the inner corner. Blended it all out with Chickadee and Inglot 383. I curled my lashes, applied mascara to top and bottom lashes and then applied falsies : Koko lashes in Risque.

Summer in Arabia: Colorful Eye Look feat. Sleek Snapshots Palette

IMG_7894

Hi lovelies,

Yesterday I sat in front of my vanity having something totally different in my mind but I stumbled upon the Sleek Makeup Snapshots palette and the colors totally blew my mind. I had to do something colorful, something vibrant, perfect for upcoming summer festivals, parties, and weddings in the Northern Hemisphere (You lucky people! It’s freezing cold here in Aussieland :S). I’m calling it ‘Summer in Arabia’ because it is somewhat Arabic inspired with the wing and the vibrant colors.

1. After priming your lid – apply Washed Ashore on the upper crease area. Then layer on Magenta Madness with a fluffy brush on top of the previous color and go back and for on the inner and outer part of the upper crease in a windshield wiper motion to diffuse the color. Don’t pack on the color all together. Layer slowly, building up the intensity until you are happy with it.

2. Then add Purple Haze with a denser crease (MAC 217) on the outer crease bringing it inwards at the crease.

3. On a flat shader brush, take the color Green Iguana and spritz some fix plus (any facial mist) on it to give it more intensity. Add that color all over the lid stopping at the crease and leave some space at the inner corner.

4. Blend out the harsh edges between the crease and lid. Take some Purple Haze to deepen the crease. Don’t forget to take a little at a time and build up the intensity.

5. Take the color Humming Bird on a flat shader brush and spritz with fix plus. Add that color right at the middle of the lid. The golden sheen of the shadow will give the eye dimension.

6.  ~Apply the shade Martini on the brow bone. Mix Martini and Lotus Flower and apply at the inner corner.

~With a gel liner, line your upper lash line and make a wing. I chose to make the line quite thick. With the gel liner, define the        inner corners and create a triangular point and connect it with the lower water line.

~Use a navy blue eyeliner on the water line. I used Model’s Prefer eye pencil in Blue Lagoon.

~Smoke out the lash line with Purple Haze. Then diffuse that color with a combination of Magenta Madness and Washed             Ashore.

~Apply mascara on top and bottom lashes. Apply falsies. I used my favorite pair : House of Lashes Pixie Luxe.

Heya My Lovelies!

Today’s post is all about a super dramatic smokey eye with berry tones and a beautiful duo chrome pigment from Inglot that shows up gold in one angle and a pink bronze at a different angle. My uber gorgeous model is my beautiful bestie who was kind enough to lend me her face for the day 😛 ! I’m super happy with how the look came out and this look is perfect for a ‘desi’ bridal party or even for the bride herself! I don’t have a pictorial or step by step for this post but I’ll list all the product details and a diagram of the eye.

Aishwarya Rai Cannes 2015 Jazbaa Photocall Inspired Makeup Look

IMG_7426

Hi Dolls!

Aishwarya was fabulous at this year’s Cannes film festival! There were a few different looks to choose from but I asked you guys in Instagram and Facebook and looks like this one’s the winner! And I personally love this one more than the others. It’s a very simple eye using all matte brown shades. The star of the show is the deep red wine lips….stunning!

IMG_7452

EYES

I’ve got a step by step pictorial for you guys today and I’ll try to make a habit out of that! I understand it makes it easier for you lovelies to learn the look. The eyes are super easy to do for this look!

Processed with Moldiv

Processed with Moldiv

1.Prime your eyes using a tinted primer or concealer all over your lid.

2.Then with a crease brush apply a light matte ‘nudey’ brown shade all over the lid and up to the crease. I mixed MakeupGeek Creme Brule with Peach Smoothie to make it even lighter.

3.Then with a crease brush, intensify the crease using a warm caramel brown shade. I used MAC Saddle and I took it from the outer crease all over to the inner crease in a circular motion. Aishwarya seemed to have warmth on her inner crease.

4.This is an optional step. As I was looking through pictures I felt that there was a smokiness peeking through her eyeliner. This may just be an illusion but I still wanted to add that. So I took a kohl pencil and smudged it along the lash line. Used a pencil brush to further smudge it and take it a little up to the outer corner.

5.Then I took a darker more cool toned coffee brown ( MakeupGeek Mocha ) and mixed it with a little bit MAC Saddle and intensified the crease and outer corner using a circular motion. The eyeshadows in this look are applied in a more rounded shape as opposed to a cat eye winged out shape.

I also added MAC Brule which is matte cream shade on my brow bone and inner corner

6. I used Inglot gel liner in 77 to create a semi thick but short wing. I kept the thickness of the liner pretty uniform all throughout the lash line. On the waterline I used a brown kohl pencil. On the bottom lash line I added some MakeupGeek Creme Brule.

I curled my lashes, applied Mascara on top and bottom lashes and added Falsies (KOKO Lashes – Ariel)

Adriana Lima Met Gala 2015 Inspired Vampy Look

IMG_7144

Helllooo My Lovelies!

I know it’s a bit late but as promised here I am with a Adriana Lima Inspired Look from the Met Gala this year. I’ve been sick and then I was in Melbourne and I’m still feeling a bit under the weather but things need to be done! I really enjoyed doing this look and even tried to do a faux bang but failed miserably LOL !

EYES

image1 (8)

Just a side note: My only regret is I think the highlight looks a bit too silvery/greyish…It wasn’t like that face to face and when I was doing the makeup but maybe I’ll choose a different shade for the highlight if I had to do it again.

~Start off with a grey base all over the lid – Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe

~Go all over the lid with a grey color – Lorac Stone

~Take that grey to the crease and blend – I added Lorac Lilac with Lorac Stone

~ Then apply a light/white matte shade to the brow bone just to keep in check that you are not taking the grey too high up – Lorac Vanilla

~Add a smokey grey tone with a satin or shimmery finish on the lid – I mixed MAC Satin Taupe and Makeup Geek Moonstone

~Don’t forget to blend everything together at the crease with clean brush or with a little bit of the crease color

~Now comes the fun part with the black eyeshadow – firstly with kohl pencil make a wing starting halfway the lash line

~With a smudger brush, start smudging that wing liner until it has a blurred effect

~Then with a crease brush (MAC 217/ Zoeva 227/ Sigma E25) take some black eyeshadow – Makeup Geek Corrupt – make sure you dust it off so that there is no excess product – and start going over that lining blending upward towards the outer crease and outer edge – go slowly and take as little product as possible at a time and build the black

~ Blend it with the lid and crease colors – you can go and add more of the greys if it helps you to blend

~Go with the black kohl pencil on the bottom lash line (NOT THE WATERLINE) and line halfway – leave a space on the inner third part

~With a pencil brush and black eyeshadow, smudge that liner and smoke it out

~Smoke it out farther down with a grey eyeshadow and a crease brush so there are no harsh lines

~On the inner corner, go with a shimmery champagne/pearl highlight – take it upward to the inner lid and on the inner third of the lower lash line

~Apply a little bit of that shimmery highlight shade on the brow bone as well

~Apply a nude or white eyeliner on the water line

~Curl your lashes, apply mascara on top and bottom and lashes and apply falsier! I used Social Eyes Vamp Lashes but to be honest I should’ve gone with the style Delight instead 😦

Met Gala 2015 Outfit and Makeup Hits!

Just like each and every year, the 2015 Met Gala Red Carpet was a spectacle not to be missed! I’m fascinated by different cultures and their art and lifestyles and this year’s theme, China: Through the Looking Glass’ made me sit up and really anticipate the Red Carpet event. It was just fascinating to see the beautiful interpretations of China in the outfits donned by fashion icons of today! I’m not a fashion expert or anything but I love fashion and makeup and I thought I’ll talk about my favorites for this years Met Gala! Just a little warning: this will be a long one!!

FASHION: HAUTE COUTURE

Hands down, the belle of the ball was Rihanna for me (and no, I intentionally didn’t compare to her to the Disney Princess but come to think of it, Belle did wear a toned down version of Rihanna’s gown!). Her outfit choice was unconventional and a bit avant-garde even, but I think the Met Gala is an event where you can go all out! And come on, we are talking about Riri here!

source: vanity fair

source: vanity fair

She is wearing a couture piece by Chinese couturier Guo Pei. It’s a handmade gown made by one woman and it took 2 years to finish! That’s epic! It’s especially commendable that she is one of the few celebrities who chose to wear a Chinese designer. Riri just looks magnificent in this gown and she carries it off so beautifully! In my opinion, only Riri could pull this off! Her dress was subject to jokes and some criticism but that is expected when someone chooses to be different. Two thumbs up to Riri for going all out and capturing the essence of this year’s theme!

A  close second in the unconventional department is Zendaya! This 18 year old starlet is wearing a custom Fausto Puglisi gown with red, black and white which goes hand in hand with the theme.

source: yahoo

source: yahoo

Zendaya has shown in the past that even though she is young, she has impeccable taste in fashion and this look tells us no different. It’s high fashion, beautifully structured and the headpiece amps up the look even more! Way to go Zendaya!

FASHION: SEXY

Now let’s look at some sexy ladies steaming up that red carpet! I think in addition to the China theme, this year it was all about the sex appeal. Sheer, revealing silhouettes, sexy cut outs, crystals and feathers: it was all about that hot bod baby!

source: mirror.co.uk

source: mirror.co.uk

Kendall Jenner is wearing a Calvin Klein jade-green crystal gown with lace up details on the side that flaunts some side boob adding a va-va-voom factor to the outfit! I love it when celebrities wear different colors other than your traditional blacks, whites or nudes (not that those colors don’t look good). This green is beautiful and to be honest, I feel Kendall looks beautiful in any silhouette because she has such an amazing statuesque figure. After all she is an upcoming super model!

Kim Kardashian chose to wear a white sheer/see through Roberto Cavalli gown with heavy crystal embellishments and a matching white feather train. Well, we’re no stranger to the fact that Kim K likes to bare it all, now and then. I think after she gave birth to North, she has really worked on her figure and she looks stunning as ever so why shouldn’t she flaunt it! According to her, this outfit was inspired by a Bob Mackie gown worn by the evergreen Cher in the 1974 Met Gala.

Beyonce: Queen B never fails to amaze whether it’s her voice, dance moves, or killer bod! She is donning a Custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown which is completely see through with multicolored crystals placed strategically all over the gown. She arrived late to the event but still managed to steal the show!

Rosie Huntington Whiteley is a stunner always! She is wearing a one-shouldered champagne gown by Atelier Versace. The gown has cut outs both on the front and back with some sheer panels and it has tiny diamantes all over. I just love how the gown sits on her body, the cutouts and silhouette creating this beautiful flow.

Jennifer Lopez: I’ve got a massive weakness for this woman. She’s in her mid forties but she manages to outshine celebrities way younger than her. She is wearing classic JLO, a beautiful sequinned Versace dress with sheer panels that show off her sexy curves. A lot of people criticised this look saying it was skanky (for lack of a better word), and not age appropriate referring to the sheer panels on her hips and boring and too literal referring to the sequinned dragon motif wrapping around the dress. I totally disagree with these comments. I feel this dress really captures her style perfectly and she is known to flaunt her body so I don’t find the sheer panels inappropriate at all. The red is amazing as well and the beautiful ombre effect at the bottom. End of the day she is gorgeous, period!

So these are my fashion favorites. There were countless amazing ensembles in this year’s Met Gala but this post is already super long so I’ll stop right there. Let’s move on to Makeup!

MAKEUP

MetGalaMakeupFaves

So here are my Top 6 Makeup Looks. Of course some of the fashion favorites overlap with the makeup favorites because some people are just perfect!

source: getty images

source: getty images

Rosie Huntington Whiteley: She’s all class with that sleeked back hair and glossy dark lips. I really love the contouring and highlighting in this look. Her cheekbones are beautifully sculpted out (even though they are naturally amazeballs), there’s a right amount of bronzer and she is glowing. Eyes are kept minimal to complement the dark lips, with some warmth through the socket, a little bit of liner with a small wing and lots of lashes. Her lips are glossy which actually tones down the look further because sometimes dark matte lips look a lot more bold than a glossy one.

Adriana Lima Instagram

Adriana Lima Instagram

Adriana Lima: I think many were shocked by this supermodel’s look this year. Where Rosie was wearing a more classic approach to darker lips with minimal eyes, Adriana went all out vampy with lots happening on both the eyes and lips. Might scare a lot of people but for me it’s perfect. She’s a fierce vixen wearing a dark smokey eye with lots of cool tones like black and silver, dark defined eyebrows, and a sexy burgundy matte lip that has been perfectly applied. Talk about sexy!

source: popsugar

source: popsugar

Rihanna: this girl never stops impressing me. Yes, her look’s super minimal but that’s what I like about it. It’s all about the skin and keeping it minimal so that it doesn’t take away from the gown, with the addition of those awesome eyebrows. Her skin looks flawless and beautifully bronzed. I like that there’s still a little bit of drama with the eye liner, wing and lashes but the lips are just the right shade of nude (perfectly matches her skin). The eyebrows are the highlight of the look and I just love that it’s unconventional just like the gown. The eyebrows are reminiscent of Riri’s recent cover in Harper’s Bazaar China.

source: yahoo

source: yahoo

Cara Delevingne: I think this look is classic Cara. She often wears a grungy look and I think it really suits her features and personality. It’s a classic grungy, black, blown out smokey eye with some gold highlight at the tear duct to open up the eyes. There’s some warmth on the lower lash line as well. And of course, her famous thick bushy brows! Rest of the skin’s been kept minimal: glowy skin, subtle pop of coral-pink on the cheeks, and uber nude lips! Sort of the opposite of Rosie’s look.

source: getty images

source: getty images

Beyonce: my favorite part of this look is the eyeliner. Just love the curvy wing and how it is extended quite far: this elongates the eye and makes them look ultra sexy. I like the contrast of a minty-silvery shimmery shadow on the lid and warm tones through the crease. It’s kept soft with the light glossy pink lips which actually matches the pink jewels on her dress. The skin isn’t my favorite part of this look but come on it’s Queen B, she looks spectacular always! And the high ponytail rocks!

kendall-jenner-beauty-met-gala-2015-ftr

Kendall Jenner: The best thing about this makeup is how fresh and youthful it is. Kendall is wearing a green gown and she has dark hair, so the right decision was to keep the face simple as can be. Just some shimmery champagne eye shadow, winged liner, lashes, and glossy nude lips! She’s already got beautiful striking features and the subtle makeup complemented that and kept her looking youthful and not overly mature.

Phew we’ve finally come to the end! I know this was a long post, I’m sorry about it but I had soo much to say about these captivating ladies! If I had to choose the showstopper, it would definitely be Rihanna. But Number 1 in the more wearable category would be Rosie Huntington Whitely. Both her gown and makeup were fabulous!

Till next time loves! XOXO
